Apply for the Community Energy Association’s Climate and Energy Action Awards

Source Name
Community Energy Association

Is your community increasing the use of public transit, active transportation or electric vehicles? Have you completed retrofits on community facilities, explored renewable energy projects or supported green waste recycling? Are you fostering energy efficient new buildings and neighbourhoods? Are you advancing climate resilience and adaptation initiatives?

Receive recognition for your work by applying for a Climate and Energy Action Award.

The Climate and Energy Action Awards have recognized the efforts of small and large communities across BC in reducing community and corporate energy use and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. The awards also recognize municipal leadership on climate change adaptation.

The awards will be presented by a Provincial Minister at the Union of BC Municipalities Convention on September 23rd. Winners and honourable mentions will also be profiled in the December 2020 edition of Municipal World magazine.

The COVID-19 Pandemic: These are times of uncertainty and new challenges. We are all focused on keeping people safe and providing support, so we can all get through this together. At the same time, it is important where reasonable to do so, to recognize the continuing leadership of local governments in moving forward with positive climate and energy action. We hope your community will still be able to submit applications in recognition of these efforts.

Applications close on Friday, July 3rd, 2020 at 5:00 PM. Please contact us with any concerns, including any challenge in meeting the deadline due to internal capacity or engagement issues on account of COVID-19.

The Climate and Energy Action Awards are co-sponsored by the Community Energy Association, Union of BC Municipalities, Province of BC, FortisBC, BC Hydro, and Real Estate Foundation of BC.
