This workshop, the third of five in-person events hosted by the Integrated Cadastral Information Society (ICI Society) as part of their annual User Conference, focuses on the Complete Communities Initiative being developed by the Province.
The Initiative includes a $10M funding program, delivered by UBCM, to support Local Governments and Modern Treaty Nations in the creation of more complete communities.
Creating more complete communities can support many identified community goals, including those connected to climate, transportation, housing, fiscal sustainability, servicing, and infrastructure.
Attendees will learn about conducting spatial assessments of their community’s current – and potential future – built form to better understand the strengths of, opportunities for, and challenges to achieving their goals by creating more complete communities.
The data discussed and its use in assessments has the potential to support evidence-based decision-making and inspire action that integrates housing development with transportation options and other amenities, with consideration to servicing costs.
Registration is open to local government and First Nations staff only. Local governments and First Nations are encouraged to send staff from various departments, including planning, GIS, engineering, climate, and finance.
This workshop is the third of five that will take place in various parts of B.C. in February and March:
- Vancouver Island: Nanaimo (Tuesday, February 14)
- South Coast/Fraser Valley: Abbotsford (Thursday, February 16)
- North/Central: Prince George (Wednesday, March 1)
- Okanagan: Kelowna (Tuesday, March 7)
- Kootenays: Cranbrook (Thursday, March 9)
Lunch will be provided. Registration is free but limited – reserve your spot soon!
