January 30 | 12:00 pm

Join the Real Estate Foundation of BC for a FREE one-hour webinar on January 30, 2019 on the latest trends and opinion research on sustainable land use.

Event Description:
Land use covers a complex and interconnected set of disciplines and concerns. Regional and community planners must balance ecosystem protection, Indigenous territory and rights, agricultural land protections, housing demand, and energy, resource, and industrial development.
Meanwhile, public opinion on land use, sustainability, and how to make decisions is quickly evolving. More than ever, British Columbians are concerned about protecting land, water, and wildlife.
In 2018, the Real Estate Foundation of BC commissioned a research study and a public opinion poll. Together, these studies can help us understand public priorities, identify issues and trends, and plan for emerging challenges and opportunities.
In this one-hour webinar, Angus McAllister (McAllister Opinion Research) and Carolyn Whittaker (Firelight) will summarize what we’ve learned.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Identify top trends and emerging issues in sustainable land use
  • Understand public values and opinions relating to land use, sustainability, and decision-making
  • Determine which words and terms resonate with the public (e.g. “sustainable” vs. “ecosystem-based”)
  • Understand regional challenges and priorities
  • List strategies and opportunities for engaging with the public, collaborating with other decision-makers, and charting a path forward
  • There is no cost to attend, though space is limited. Sign up today!
After the webinar, REFBC will email links to our latest reports on land use.
