Join CEA for Building Better with Energy Step Code Workshop Series to learn about building to the lower steps of the BC Energy Step Code.

Event Description:
Builders, building officials, and other interested parties are invited to learn about building to the lower steps of the BC Energy Step Code. The full-day workshops are an extension of BC Housing’s Building Smart with the Energy Step Code seminars and also include a hands-on component. Building Better workshops will serve communities where Building Smart workshops are not easily accessible due to travel distance, but where CEA has established local government networks and in areas with a high volume of building permits and demand for additional builder training.
Attendees will earn 6.5 CPD credits (Group A) from BC Housing/HPO and are eligible for credits through the Building Officials Association of BC.
The workshops will:
  • Provide builders with an introduction to the BC Energy Step Code with a focus on how to build to the lower steps
  • Provide building science training focused on energy efficient building envelope assemblies and mechanical systems using the Building Smart curriculum
  • Help to get builders and building officials on the same page
  • Facilitate relationship building between builders, building officials and Energy Advisors (EAs)
  • Promote current and upcoming utility incentive programs and other supports
  • Promote, where applicable, local government incentives or policies on energy efficient new homes and the Energy Step Code
Individual speakers vary by location, and include Community Energy Association, building science experts, Energy Advisors, local government staff, and utility representatives.
